Voice overs in the very first cut scene of NFS are missing

Today I just bought NFS for XboxOne. I start the game. When the very first live-action cut scene of the "campaign/career" starts , I could hear all of the SFX (the cars revving, brakes squeeling etc) but when characters started to talk, their lips moved and nothing came out. Restarted the game multiple times. Same thing every time.

Ive called Xbox Live and they made me perform their usual procedures like hard resetting, clearing cache and what not. Nothing. Issue still stands.

I had the exact same issue with my digital copy of NHL16 I bought last week as well! The pre game announcers lips moved, but nothing is heard except for the arenas music and the crowd cheering. Happens every time. Not a big deal for a hockey game.. though, quite devastating for a racing game I just paid upwards of $90 CDN for and I cant even follow the story line a minute within it starting.

Ive spent the last two hours talking to Microsoft and searching this forum for clues, answers or related issues. I havent seen any. The fact that EA does not have a toll-free number for support is also bothersome.

Why are my only two EA releases not playing voice overs. Please.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Plugged in my stereo headset to the controller and I can now hear the voice overs in NFS. Momentarily this is tolerable..glad I can actually start playing the game now lol but being anchored to my head set is not very ideal. Still seeking help. Thanks guys.

  • Check your console audio settings, as there have been a few instances where the Xbox One has reset the audio output to 7.1 when only stereo was available.

I had this exact issue when I first booted up the game on a basic TV at my parent's house; turns out my console was still set to output 5.1 from when I was at home. Switching the audio setting to Stereo in the Xbox menu solved the problem, so it's definitely worth checking your audio output options. The fact you can hear it when listening to a stereo output via a headset suggests that the setting is causing the issue.

  • I cant believe I didnt think of that! Thanks a million guys. Worked like a charm.
