It's so you can raise the maximum power of a car that you REALLY like, so it can stay competitive later in the game, you just need to buy the performance upgrades to go along with it.
Honestly, it seems ill-balanced, because I upgraded the engine of my initial car, and let's be honest: It still can't compete at the level I'm at even when re-upgraded (like at most it's 190 rating when I'm having 300 rating races and my top car is rated 330.
Thanks though.

Your correct the whole engine swap is a complete waste of time and life force for us to have to play with these gimmicks!
Ghost Studios just comes up with the most ways to waste time in the game with this feature.
The old school way of upgrading was more fun and more productive for the community in my opinion.
Have a great day.😁👍

most of the time the engine swaps dont do anything on the lower levels, up until low 300s your car is competitive enough, then when you have enough money think about swapping it, the stock engine is fine for most cases and you can ignore it, on some cars though an engine swap can be vicious.

The problem is the upgrade system.
Ghost needs to take a playbook page from the old school NFS upgrade system from the early years and stop wasting our time with this swap engine garbage.
Thanks for sharing your views.
Have a great day. 😁👍
