No Fullscreen possible, Game starts windowed

Product: Need for Speed: Unbound
Platform:PC
Summarize your bug Game starts in a window, Even so the Settings say "Fullscreen" If the settings are changed to "Window" or "Borderless Window", the game crashes without a Error Message.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I can only guess that you would need a PC with my specs.
What happens when the bug occurs? Game runs in Window mode or crashes when settings are changed
What do you expect to see? I expect that i can run the game in Fullscreen mode

The Game starts in a small window and it doesn't matter if I start the game via STEAM or the native ORIGIN Starter.
Within the Settings the Mode says "fullscreen".
I tried to change the Settings, but the Game crashes when I change the Settings to "window" or "borderless window".

Even with a added "-fullscreen" parameter within the game start options in the Origin launcher, the game starts as window.

I installed the newest NVIDA Drivers, i reinstalled, i repaired the game. Nothing changes.

Systemspecs:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600

NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2060Super

32 GB RAM

Samsung 980 PRO M.2 SSD

3440x1440@144hz

  • OK, Problem solved.

The Game was using the 2nd GPU instead of the 1st GPU (which is on the PCI x4.0 Slot)

The Game only chooses the Screen it show the game on, but does not show which GPU it uses. When i played (in windowed) I saw the temperature of the 2nd GPU raise.

I cut the Power to the 2nd GPU, Game runs fine.

Perhaps consider a possibility to let the User choose the GPU if there are more than 1.

    Thanks

  • How did you do that? I play on a gaming laptop and my specs are the following:

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650

    AMD Ryzen 5 5600

    24gbs of ram

    1920x1080 120hz

@NDH_Retr0 there are some ways to do it but the most recent is in Windows Graphics settings and than under Graphics performance preference and select a desktop app. Hit the browse button and select Need For Speed Unbound to run on the correct GPU.

  • it works but theres a big problem. the only option that works is power saving which makes my game run at 5fps. when i use high performance mode it only shows windowed and crashes the game when i change the settings

@NDH_Retr0 in power saving mode your game is probably running on the iGPU. The problem is that your laptop screen is connected to the iGPU and the dedicated GPU is connected to the iGPU. It is likely that your game can't be displayed in a window on the desktop because of this. So the game uses your dedicated graphics only in fullscreen. I have laptop that behaves the similar but I don't have Unbound on it to verify this.
