Team is investigating the issue and we need some extra information.

• What is everyone gamertag and platform they are playing on? 
• When you enter Multiplayer for the first time and you are going to choose your character do you remember what way you progress to the menu from making your characters to entering the first race?

I played a bit of story before I started Multiplayer. When I entered Multiplayer for the first time I went straight to the last model. When it asks to Customize your look I selected Later. I then selected the skyline for first car. Went play, exited the garage. I'm not sure if my first race I joined or started. After a few races I sat idle then got kicked from lobby, joined back in did some more races then joined a friend. Did some more races with friend then found out I couldn't customize when I went back in the garage.

When I first joined online I was in the middle of making my character and my friend sent me an invite so I joined him before finishing making my character. That might be what caused the problem.

Selected the blue sweatshirt woman to change look and it would not let me so I skipped it and got sent to the garage and it didn't let me change the look there either.

Having the same issue. I can purchase new clothing etc but can't actually change or customize anything on the character in Multiplayer. I have reinstalled the game as well to make sure it wasn't just a hard bug.

When I entered multiplayer for the first time, I actually just went in and from the very start I couldn’t change anything. At the time I was mid story, then decided to check multiplayer to see what transferred over from story. I only joined a session once but never did a race.

Console PS5.

From memory, did story mode 1st, went to play online after, tried to customize character at the first opportunity and straight away was unable to do so prior to even entering online. 

Tried to customize later on as well and was still unable to.

I never picked I was just sitting over her for selection and went afk and fell asleep the next day I turn on ps5 it resumed at that screen but had an update that required restart after it did that I haven't been able to change character or clothing

I tested this on TWO PS5s and two EA accounts:

mine is messed up. I can’t change anything on my character. Also I pre-ordered and I don’t have the $150,000 in my bank. I did use the early access game. 

My character is still messed up on my other ps5. 

I used my wife’s account and it works fine on the other ps5 account. My character remains buggy. THIS IS SERVER RELATED. 

Wife’s account works well on my ps5 too. 

The other ps5 wasn’t used for early access. 

methinks this is an issue with people who have used the early access and then updated later. 

PLEASE FIX.

Same here cant change anything on my online character

Didn't even think about this, I dont have the $150k or the Palace Edition vehicles either.

Tried to get into multiplayer directly from single player campaign, failed, tried again and it worked, created a character (default model, didn't change anything), picked a car (golf gti), looked through the menu in the garage (didn't change anything), swaped cars (olny had the BMW M3), left the garage, rolled around for a couple minutes, joined a race.

On PS5 I’m having the same issues 

On ps5 same issue, locked as the blonde female base character and unable to change anything

I decided to start from the beginning. No worries. I only spent two nights custom designing my livery and grinding through the first week of the single player mode obtaining the highest level 2015 Honda Civic RT i could. 

I also figured out what everyone was saying about “managing content”. You go to your Home Screen, NOT THE GAME SCREEN/PRODUCT PAGE — press options on the icon of NFS Unbound to get the contextual menu, THEN manage content — I found I didn’t have the pre-order stuff installed. Just the Palace Stuff was installed. 

maybe that’s where the bug lies. A combination of that, and early access play. 

So — KEEP YOUR CLOUD SAVE, but delete your console save. This will ensure you don’t lose all your pre-order and Palace stuff. I almost made that mistake. Good thing I have two PS5s!!!!

@theanimasterI'm glad it worked for you, but this doesn't solve the issue for anyone who doesn't (and shouldn't have to) delete their progress. I've already completed the campaign, got like 90% of the activities, 100% of the collectibles and have made online progress too. I'm not about to give everything up for that. I did try this method though. I deleted the save file off the PS5, and redownloaded it from the Cloud. Also deleted the two files for Palace and preorder content, and it didn't fix the issue sadly.

Still need a proper patch for this.

Edit: @EA_Atic I believe this has something to do with the pre-order content on PS5, like the guy above mentioned. Because my friend who got the Palace edition recently without the pre-order content doesn't have this issue. Something about the pre-order content messed up any ability to edit the character model online.

Is there a chance to solve the problem or are you just leaving us with it ???

@EA_AticSame issue here.
I tried to cancel the saved data, start with a new fresh account and the issue is not there. I can acutally customize my character without any problem.
Then I tried reinstalling the old data and the issue is back.
