So EA, when are you going to let us play defense in this game??? Every game is the same thing. Flat-footed AI defenders backskating while the forward spams the hustle button right past for an easy breakaway. I can't even use the "protect puck" feature because it keeps giving me a high sticking penalty. Can't even poke check correctly because our feet are frozen in concrete if we try that. I like the fact that one-timers are way harder to execute this year, but HATE that it opens the door for one-man-show goals again. Back-hand wrap cheese is back, and your AI goalie cannot stop a breakaway to save his life.So I don't want to hear the same EA rhetoric that we get every year. I want to know when EA plans on FIXING the defense. I want to PLAY defense ya know?? You give us NOTHING to do that.What say you EA???

@KlariskraysNHLPoke checking is terribly inconsistent. There's no amount of "learning when to poke" that can help when things like this happen on a regular basis.

Friendly reminder we shouldn't single specific people out on the forums -- That all said, I personally didn't appreciate being talked down to/patronized by everyone answering the community at the time. We have legit concerns that are either tip-toed around, or are outright denied with zero wiggle room for debate. We are apparently the problem, not them. AI shouldn't be god-tier but it needs to be somewhat competent. As-is, all the AI is embarrassing and I really think the dev team shouldn't be proud of what the series has become/is becoming. Sure, 6v6 is intended to be played by all humans, but the vast vast majority of the community is 2-3 humans per team; the AI absolutely needs fixing and these changes will only benefit the game as a whole (Eliminator/Ones Now/EASHL/Franchise/BaP/Shootouts/Seasons/Rivals/HUT etc.)

@EA_Aljo Pause that video at 9 seconds when he initially uses the poke and tell me where his leg is. Why does anyone even upload videos if they're not even being seriously looked at? Has anyone uploaded a video on here that helped result in a change? That's not rhetorical I'm genuinely curious. There is no way you can be taken seriously if that is your response. His leg is no where NEAR his stick until he scores. I'm sure the two videos above that it's his leg too right? How much do they pay you to defend this. Why not just say "look I don't play this game, I see your concerns, this looks like an issue and I will bring it to the developers" and then bring it to them or don't it probably doesn't matter because it likely won't change.I feel this game is actually close to being good.. but because of a few issues it's one of the worst.

@MetalHead0703 We play 6 vs 6 EASHL and usually have one AI Defender and goalie and it is horrible. They let the opposing player run right by them and then the goalie can not hug the post on the back hand. It is so bad

@Spawnessj Because AI shouldn't be a game changer for a mode that should be 6v6 humans. It's done like that on purpose.

@KlariskraysNHL I am not excepting them to be great let alone good but If we have to play with one AI defender on our team he should at least try and defend. He just lets people run right by or he is completely out of position.

I agree completely with what both you and Follisimo are saying. The problem is that once again EA has things completely backwards and make the AI TERRIBLE at defending the rush to the point you can literally straight line past them. But they are god tier at shutting down the cycle once a team is set up in the zone.
The AI shouldn’t be game changers at all and should be treated like they are crap, but at the same time, the way the AI is programmed punishes passing and team play, and favours one man shows, just like AI goalies do now as well. The developers honestly need to be replaced because the vision they have for this game is backwards in every way possible.
Tired of complete lack of skill being favoured in this series, and skill being punished. Gets worse and worse year after year as well

Yeah, one thing I can't stand are teams that depend on the CPU defenders to consistently bail them out. A lot of teams act like they don't but they do, while complaining when they don't.. then they cherry pick (and you cut off the pass because you know what theyre doing) and they call for the puck and the CPU throws it off the boards perfectly onto their stick, and you wonder why you play with human D that can't do that, and can't intercept passes as well.. this game changed all that. I don't like that they limited the defense abilities however, I love that they made a good human D man EXTREMELY important. Clubs gotta start finding D men and/ or two way centermen.

@MetalHead0703 online mode only? because defense at offline mode is good this year. it works fine except CPU d-mans are still so low shooting from blueline...it is a shame.
