Competitive play when ping is unbalanced

Thanks for reaching out. We can go through some troubleshooting. First, are you playing on a wired or wireless connection? I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem/router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem/router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know if that helps or not.

Hey thanks for the reply. Yes I am wired with over 300 mps. I have tried restarting my router many times before but no matter how many times I do this the best ping I can get vs a team from Quebec is 60 ping in world of chel. All of my buddies from Quebec play on 3 ping vs me and it is very frustrating trying to compete when I can’t move the way that they do.I literally only get 60+ on this game and every other game I'm on 15-20 ping. I am located in Arkansas and I know that this is a location based thing because when I travel back home to NY I sit on 15-20 ping and the game is actually playable. It is just unfair to the people who live on a different side of the country and are forced to suffer because of it. Especially, when no other game on Xbox makes me play on that high ping. I really hope something is done about these servers and we can all enjoy the game and play competitively against each other in NHL otherwise I really don’t see a reason to continue to support a game that won’t support me. I really appreciate the feedback and replies from you guys! 

We also get some serious stuttering lag or fatman lag once every other game, still the ping is flat 9ms. It’s like the servers can’t handle the load or something.

HUT servers are awful and have been since NHL 21. Input lag is very noticeable which causes the "fatman" effect. 

I almost exclusively play Online Versus for this very reason. I only play HUT if I want to just screw around since it doesn't really matter since there are no stats recorded or leaderboards. 

HUT it will say I have 15ms ping or 30ms ping with no bumps in the connection but it will feel like an Online Versus connection that is at least 130+ms ping. I don't even bother accepting games in OV that are over 100ms ping as it's not competitive.

FYI - higher bandwidth doesn't mean you'll get better response times from EA's servers. You can have 100GBPS, military grade bandwidth and if your ISP routes traffic a certain way to where EA's servers are, you're still going to get the same response time as someone with a 100Mbit connection.

Your higher ping is due to your distance from the north server you're connecting to. You would have a much better ping on the south central server. I play with friends in the northeast and always have a connection in the 50s, but haven't noticed any sluggish play or input lag as when compared to playing on the south central server that I'm closer to.
