Puck keeps along the boards

Probably one of the more egregious constants in the game. Any chance this could be patched out?

Probably one of the worst examples I could find.

Sometimes you can hit a poke 3 times with good defensive positioning and the attacker will still lose zero momentum.

server netcode, protocol. buffer size, it doesn't happen in peer to peer play only in game modes with dedicated servers. it can't be patched out, it is a "feature" "game smoothing".

Google it in FIFA and Apex.

It is horrible and it seems it affects you more the larger the discrepancy is from your opponent proximity to server and yours.

For example, you live in Boston, if you play NYC people you don't notice it you feel crisp, you play Buffalo, NY people you notice it, you play Montreal/QC people and it is a bigger issue, you play Toronto people and you might not notice it etc.

Care to explain in leymans? I don't need to read a text book on code at 1:00 in the morning.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with other things than what you're talking about, though.

If you hit a poke 2 or 3 times, it shouldn't matter if you're close to servers or not.

It should break up the play or slow the guy down more than it does when you're along the boards.

You slow way down because of the poke nerf, while the guy breaking in just kicks it back or has it bounce off the boards back to him without slowing up at all.

??? Not sure how you're instantly getting "server netcode, protocol. buffer size,".

It happens in any game regardless of connection.

It just doesn't happen on the boards and it only happens consistently  in WoC and HUT because those games are on dedicated servers. We can play a friendly VS game right now and it won't happen more than once maybe if there is some latency issue since it is peer to peer.

In that same game you posted the video from, I would hazard a guess that you couldn't poke check as effectively as your opponent. You had a difficult time getting loose pucks, AI wouldn't pick up things like they normally would and opponent would get a lot of loose pucks.

On your screen you are poking that guy earlier than the server decided you were based on your opponents inputs as well. Server is saying you poked it later from bad position so you are basically moving him along and he regains puck while you are standing still and screwed because the guy just flies by you.

If you are pretty sure it is something else, that is on you. You think EA going to come in here and say yea they working on that? There are dozens of posts in this game and in FIFA c/o similar thing, it is a small delay, even though you think those are good pokes the server says they aren't.

It is horrible and one of the most common things people complain about in this game.

I do notice the games when all of those things happen. I didn't know it was because of the dedicated servers, though.

But like I said, the keeps along the boards happen regardless if it's one of those games or not. Lol.

In the clip I showed, I don't even have good position and I said it's a bad example.

Some games with no server problems you could both be right next to the boards with position and time and hit 2-3 almost longitudinally along the boards; and because of how the game is, the guy will kick it back to himself or the boards will just bounce the puck right back to him.

    The attacker never slows.

And because of the poke nerf, you end up hitting all your pokes and still wind up getting beat.

    I'm repeating myself now...

It would be nice if you hit a poke, the puck carrier slows up about as much as the guy who just poke checked you does because he poke checked you. Lol
