I believe a community is only as toxic as the environment the developers create. Currently NOTHING is done for any toxic in game behaviors. EA also just says there is nothing they can do..we have players that go up by a goal and immediately run behind their net and try to kill off the rest of the game. So you can either quit the game if you want to play hockey or just wait out the next 40 minutes to play another game. Unbelievable to me that nothing is done about this..We have players choose to play goalie just to leave the net and get penalties/ allow goals.. so you can either quit.. or wait 40 minutes because the game will kick you for poor play FAR sooner than they will kick the goalie.We have skaters that will go offsides and stand there, players that will purposefully keep getting penalties, players that call for the puck from cpu players and try to own goal. I know some of the mods say they play this game.. but if you do.. how are you not sick of this to the point you tell the developers something needs done.. again, this is another reason people don't beleive you play the game. It's THE most toxic community of any game I've ever played. NBA 2K is bad but this takes the cake and then some.

There's a pretty straightforward way they could fix the ragging problem, but I don't think they'd ever implement it: make puck control more realistic.There's a reason why real NHL players don't try to dipsy-doodle the puck behind and around their own net if they can avoid it. It's way too risky. It's so easy for even a single forechecker to strip a player of the puck. But in EA NHL you can twist and turn and skate right into opponents and never really have to worry about losing the puck. Heck you can skate right into the boards and not lose the puck ( and I'm not talking about pinning either ) with full ability to spin out in either direction quickly while maintaining complete control of the puck.Ragging would end pretty quickly if players could lose control of the puck on the boards or the net. Or if the forechecker had a more realistic chance of separating the puck carrier from the puck. Or even if sticks would no longer be able to phase through players and other sticks.But I don't expect this to ever make it into the game. People have become used to a certain unrealistic level of puck control, and given the limits to how much control we have over our player's stick some unrealistic things are probably a necessary evil. I would imagine making these type of changes would end up being unpopular in general.

Their insight in some threads can only come from someone who has spent considerable time with the game.That being said, I think they play a lot of club games and don't spend much time in drop-ins. In fact, I think I've seen other threads that have the same complaints about drop-ins and the mods will suggest playing with friends on a club. It's not a bad suggestion and playing club games with people you know is 1000% better than drop-ins. Their stick often ends up glitching through the boards and they don't even lose puck possession. That or they use the glide glitch when entering the offensive zone and pin the puck into the boards, again, glitching the stick through the boards... so you can't stick check them. You also can't hit them as it ends in a boarding penalty. If you try to pin them into the boards, it doesn't work half the time either. Realistic puck possession needs to be implemented. As well as the option to play the body and hem a player into the boards as it happens in real hockey a lot when entering the offensive zone. Which is why an offensive play to avoid that is to dump the puck in after the redline... 99% of the player base doesn't flip or dump pucks. They just cheese and rag the puck in the neutral zone into they can glide in. It's really goofy looking.

You dont even have to be good, to know how to rag.'Anyone' can learn how to destroy a game, without being particularly good.It would take a really superior team, IRL, to manage to rag the puck from the opponent, the same way you do in the game.But if the match-making is working as it suppose to and you match up against an equally skilled opponent, that should be enough to make ragging more or less impossible to succeed with.It's frustration having to feel like a 10 year old boy chasin around for his cap when the opponent is exactly the same size and age.But ofc, if my rank was ~ 5000 in the world playing against a top 10 guy, that should be a whole nother story.But thats not reality in this game, 'same skilled guys' sometimes even worst skilled guys is able to destroy a whole game just by playing cat and mouse games.Something is definitely not right when this behavior/or problem is so widespread.The puck should be more like a 'soap' to handle then like a magnet.The ice need to feel more like ice do, and deaking need to feel more like deaking do.That would even the odds.

I have no doubt in my mind that they can program the game to tell when a player has decided to lay down on the ice in the offensive zone preventing anyone from taking the puck in or it's offsides. If your player is offsides 10 times in a 2 minute time period, the game should be able to kick them. Same with goalies...if the goalie leaves the net and skates around while the play is going on, they should be kicked. Taking your 5th interference penalty in the first period? Kicked.

100% agree.. I would do # of offsides OR tine spent offsides.
Goalies out of the net, or laying down.
Time spent holding the puck in their own offensive zone (ragging)
There's no reason all of these can't be punished. Kick them from the game and apply a cool down period for repeat offenses.

The game is extremely toxic. To the point where I highly doubt I will be buying it going forward. The game only gets like 4 updates and there's always exploits mediocre players that have basic hockey IQ take advantage. I'm sick of it.
This game is almost as toxic as LoL and Rust.

@KidShowtime1867 your argument that just because YOU or I can't conceive of a possible solution to puck-ragging means that there's no way the dev-team can is a weak one, honestly. They get paid to problem solve. That's literally what game development is. Surely, there is a way.

I have mentioned and given hints about this in one of my thread, but you guys don’t think that if the game played like REAL hockey ONILNE like the way I’ve setup my game OFFLINE, that would fix most of these problems ???
First and foremost, the puck is ALIVE, so that would negate people abusing the zone entries and ballerina stuff… They would LOSE the puck in a heartbeat… like in real hockey…
The player fatigue is set at 99 also, so when a player is on the ice for more than 50 seconds, he starts to skate like he was in quicksand and very easy to strip the puck from. That would negate people dancing and dipsy doodling behind their net pretty quickly…. NO ?
So many things wrong with the way that game has been played ONLINE for years, that people started to accept this as a hockey game, because it has all the licensing of the real NHL… Sorry to burst your bubble, but the way you guys have been playing and that all the “popular” streamers are trying to sell you all these years, is not HOCKEY…. I call it “Sky cam air pinball hockey thingy"
Do people really enjoy playing like this ? Or is it just the way they have been accustomed to and compete in that environment just for the sake of competing ?
Time to bring a real setting ONLINE that resembles that beautiful game that is Hockey…

@EA_Aljo Really? Because it’s the same exact thing for 10+ years and the only implementation was strictness of names. That’s a whole lot of investigating. Maybe in another 10 years the “team” will figure out the flickering screen? 🤷‍♂️

@PernellKarl027Too much puck bobbling on the simplest of passes. Zero difference in speed of the players. Barely at hitting. Barely any penalties because the gameplay is so slow. Time on Attack is super low which speaks volumes about the sloppiness of puck controlling the simplest of things. Maybe from an offline POV it looks good but from an Online POV it looks boring and sloppy to me, but to each their own.

Thanks, you just proved my point. Real hockey is exactly what you have described here, lol ! Like you said to each their own, cause your Online POV like you said is not the real thing…
First of, there is a big difference in the speed of players, you just have to play the game to notice it. If you take a closer look, you'll see that the easy passes connects pretty easy and the hardest ones, where the player on the receiving end is in a bad spot or doesn’t have much time to react, he bobbles it a bit..
Take a look at any hockey game and you’ll see that the players, most of the time, they always fight with the puck… Time on attack having control of the puck, is supposed to be on the low side too… Hockey IS a sloppy sport most of the time. There are no magnets in real hockey. The puck is supposed to be alive…
All my slider sets averages Stats that are on PAR with the REAL NHL, the SOG, the hitting, penalties and the average scores…I don’t know why you say there's barely any hitting ? Oh, you mean players laying on the ice every 10 seconds ? Another thing you rarely see in the NHL…
But like you said, to each their own…

I'd love to see more of these sim games like 4 more to make it a total of 5 to compare the endgame stats. Vegas averaged 2.7 penalties per game which was the lowest in the league so we should be seeing around 5-6 penalties per game. Then we have offensive zone time which this is pretty old but with teams averaging the amount of penalties per game that TOA should be much higher.

Great stuff… Let me know what you wanna have ? I have a bunch of screenshots taken at the end of games with stats…. A bunch of video clips from gameplay, a bunch of unedited full periods clips… I also go in full details at Operation Sports in my Slider thread.
I'm currently finishing things up, but I'm still pinching myself because right now I have set the game up to play a FULL 60… Like you said to each their own, but that has always been a dream of mine 😀
