It's not "we", it's "they", and it's because they can. Meaning, just like the rest of the current disastrous changes, in NHL '24, it's a sign of the times: none of it makes any sense. But because they can, despite it not being necessary, they're taking advantage of the ability and not the practicality.

@t5u3pnik00z9It's actually true though, The gamertag pics give more personality that any emblems will ever do and it was indeed a good way to recognize opponents or teammates we're used to see in the game, thats one more thing that I dislike in the game now. The banner are meaningless and even more the emblems. ''EA Sport'' a basketball or football balloon drawed by kids, everyone looking alike (as of now), another weird decision bringing a CoD/Fortnite aspect in a NHL game.

Well said. Now you've got to read each name to see if its a person you know or not. Because with all those new Pictures it's getting chaotic and confusing. Just add an option to choose wether you're profile picture or a picture that you've earned in the game... Nevertheless, I find it tedious and unnecessary as it is right now. (nothing against the people who like it)
