Hipchecks still have a wind up and trajectory - Yes, it is way easier to do now (controls were sluggish and overall ugly before), but if someone gets slammed I think it's their own fault.
Crazy how fast people forget about bruiser meathead builds with Truculence sending people flying with just a flick and no build up
- @KidShowtime1867 The problem I have with the hipcheck is people use it on defenders getting a puck in the corner. There is no way to avoid that for the most part. Getting clipped with my back turned to the play I'm sure in real life gets that player thrown out of the game and suspended. You can say well boardplay but that still just ends up in a lost puck usually making it worthless.
"However, if the player throwing the hip check makes contact at or below an opponent's knees, a “clipping” penalty will be assessed."
With how a hipcheck should work needs new animations to reflect this instead of crunching them up into a ball So much like the randomness of elbows and such back into the game the hipcheck should get penalties for random misuse.
So maybe they don't need to tweak it but they do need to call penalties for improper uses of it. - ChiTownSwagger912 years agoSeasoned Veteran@RelentlessJ69 the hitting was really bad last year. Not so good players were getting rewarded

I'm baffled how you wouldn't think this is op.
Maybe because I didn't say that?
I'm top 100 in OVP. I've played roughly 20+ WoC games with a Div 1, Div2 team. I've seen the hip check be attempted plenty of times and maybe land once.
I have ZERO issue with hip check and I rarely use it. I have ZERO problem avoiding it when I see it coming.
I think the majority of complaints are coming from HUT users who are playing a mode that is already plagued with issues when it comes all the boosts and attribute fluctuations. In this mode, I can see how something like Hip check is OP because in that mode, the smallest adjustments make anything OP. Not to mention I've seen the hip check bug out in HUT but never in OVP/WoC. HUT is a cancer.

The majority of complaints comes from non 1v1 modes where if you play against good teams it's clearly an issue. 1v1 modes of course it's easy to avoid. You only have to focus on 1 guy doing it.
And my first 20 woc games didn't have it either but now it's the meta and every good team is using it.
If you've only seen it plenty of times, then you're being ignorant to how OP it is when a whole team of 6s or 3s uses it whenever there's a puck along the wall.

I've got some clips I can post a little later on the games we played last night. Hip-checks are NOT hard to do. If you connect with just a PIECE of the player anywhere on the body, they will end up losing the puck or stumbling. It happens in the corners. It happens in open ice. There are more hip-checks being thrown in games by teams that know how to abuse it (to include my team) in 6v6. It has nothing to do with speed or position. It's just the best way to dislodge the puck currently, because even using the poke perfectly with positional play doesn't guarantee a good defensive outcome, but that hip-check seems to nearly never fail.

Hip check is effective versus players trying to constantly squeak by defenders and/or skating too fast with the puck. Rather than make adjustments, people want the mechanic nerfed. I have no doubts it will be. There have been instances where a hip check triggers an animation bug - obviously that should be fixed. But I don't think it should have its effectiveness nerfed because "top players" have a hard time avoiding it.

Which people do you think have an issue with hip checks working perfectly as intended and shown in real life as in the way you just described?
You honestly think people are in an uproar and want a nerf for something working the exact way it works in real life?

No, I think some people are in an uproar because fundamental aspects of the core gameplay and controls have been adjusted in an effort to make the game feel new - something most of the people in an uproar have claimed to have wanted for "decades".
They've finally been given the "massive changes" they've been asking for, and rather than take time to adjust, rather than take some time to understand why they're being clipped with hip checks and coming out on the bad end of those exchanges more often than not - they want the same changes they've been asking for to be removed/reverted so that they can continue playing the same old game and giving into the same old habits, only to complain in a few weeks time that the game is 'stale' and a 'copy/paste'
You're in a stage right now where people who are trying to play NHL 24 the exact same way they've played all of the previous games are raging because the thing that always worked for them before aren't working anymore and/or they're harder to execute.

Well then respectfully I think this is a poor take and I don't think you understand why people want said change.
