Re: Goalies constantly facing the puck leading to goals

@SummerOfDekes So, as a goalie in WoC, I haven't found this to be too much of a problem. Just gotta keep the puck tracked and play at the top of your crease when you can. Also, if you're going down in butterfly, use Y or triangle. Don't bother with the trigger.

@SemiUsual I only use Y when I want to go to butterfly as it has the added benefit of covering the puck if there's a rebound. If you watch the video, you can see I tracked the puck and stayed with the shooter. The problem isn't not making the save, cause I DID make the initial save. The problem is after the shot, my goalie rotates his entire body which opens up the net and let's the rebound go by.

@EA_Aljo just wanted to add another clip illustrating the issue with goalies facing the puck. Now, you can't see the placement of the shot in this clip due to the camera angle, but suffice it to say that the puck was placed perfectly top corner, so the goal may have been scored anyway. Still, the point is that the goalie is rotating to face the puck which ends up letting pucks go by.

Just bumping this thread with an additional clip as I'm assuming the devs are either already at work on NHL 25 or will be in the coming months and I feel this is an issue that should be addressed in NHL 25.

I truly believe that many of the frustrating goals given up in this game where the player goalie or cpu goalie is in good position can be attributed to the fact that the goalie model is programmed to face the puck at all times.

If you watch the clip, you can see that I have my goalie in pretty good position for the shot. The skater shoots, and my player turns his body to face the puck which ends up exposing part of the net. I think this issue might be solely on shots that are closer to the net, as I don't think I've noticed this issue with point shots.

I'm not a game developer, so I don't pretend to understand the intricacies of the job, but it seems to me that having the goalie track the player model as opposed to the puck would solve the issue of goalies exposing the net by facing the puck and also have the goalies still be facing the direction the shot is coming from.

You’re not alone my goalie friend. I have the blocker on my left side and my goalie will pivot left if there is any shot from the right to his left that goes blocker side. So rather than being a stop, it deflects either into the net or just outside the left post. Im yelling why do you rotate?
