Why are deflections always on goal?
Deflections in this game continue to be OP and a big part of that is that deflections that happen, no matter where they happen, are always on goal. I can't remember the last time I've seen a deflection go way wide. The physics of deflections seem off as well. I've seen a flubbed shot from the point going (let's just say...) 2 MPH. However, if there's a player by the faceoff dot just sitting there and it hits their stick, the puck not only accelerates off their stick faster than the shot, but it comically elevates perfectly for a bar in goal.
I'm glad you can still (somewhat) defend against deflections with shoves (that used to be better when you could continue to move players just sitting and waiting), but the accuracy of Big Tipper deflections needs to be cranked way down, especially since this is an auto-action that requires no input from the player initiating the deflection. Furthermore, and I know this is a big ask, the position and speed of the shot should play a big role in deflections as well. They don't always have to be on net. And a player who is barely facing the shot, surrounded by defenders should have a clean go at perfectly placed deflections.
