Hi there, @eom01tqfrl3k
You had posted this in the NHL 23 forums. I moved it to NHL 24. As far as your issue goes, can you get me some video of what's happening? Thanks!

I didn't want to make an entirely new post for kinda the same situation of shots not working properly. I have clips but since controller input function was removed from replays it doesn't really help. My issue is through various controllers to include them being hardwired or not I will be aiming top left top right bottom left or bottom right or just left or right and my shot still aims in the middle. This is especially frustrating when I see a corner open or side of the net open and my shot goes into the goalies shoulder or chest instead of the direction I'm aiming. This also happens across all game modes and my controllers do not have stick drift either. I've seen animations where my 85 makar was going through a shot animation and stick animation to shoot top right and the puck does some weird animation to go against momentum and shoot middle.

I feel shots are actually the best they've ever been for 95% of shots. If you play hockey in real life you find certain angles can only release the puck with strength in certain directions. This game accounts for that a bit more by nerfing power and accuracy (as it should to coincide with natural human physics).
Not every shot is a snipe nor should it have elite power behind it if you're not facing up to the net appropriately.
Edit: with that said, some releases (about 5%) aren't correct and muffin up for whatever reason.
It feels like Dekes require much higher stat input to get the fast forehand to backhand type moves with a good release.

I actually really like this change but against ai goalies a stat like 80 deking is very difficult to score with despite timing and deception. Would like to see the chances of that increase maybe 10% and the success of high deking (90+) get reduced about 20% because it's almost automatic with high deking attributes.

Could just be my eyes deceiving me but it seems like those with higher deke stats will throwa shoulder faint into their stick movements which looks pretty cool and if true is a nice animation touch.
- NeonSkyline212 years agoSeasoned Ace@eom01tqfrl3k The answer to this is such: they've made it so that you can now dump the puck by holding the pass button down and shooting. Therefore, if you're a skilled player who is always holding down the pass button just in case an opportunity arises to do so and then decide to shoot, you'll get a "dump shot" instead of a normal wrister/snap shot.
I figured this out after having the same issues as you. - 75fd980e1b1839002 years agoSeasoned Veteran

I figured this out after having the same issues as you.I always hold down the pass button when I have the puck, because it gives you slightly quicker stick handling.
Are you saying that if i attack the net while holding down pass and then shoot my breakaway, it is not doing a regular shot?
can the community manager confirm this, please

Yes. You get a harder dump when holding in the pass button.

And this is a new feature?
So, we now have to remember to release turbo/hustle before attempting a breakaway and, on top of that, also have to release the pass button...
I don't get why none of this was communicated in any way prior to or at release. There are countless posts about protect puck/turbo being an issue. If this was laid out ahead of time, we would know what to expect. I know there many people still figuring out that protect puck is activating while stick handling if also using hustle; they're wondering why their dekeing feels awkward, and they'll continue to make posts about it.
Many of us have spent hours trying to figure out why certain things feel awkward. I'm just saying that addressing major changes to controls ahead of time would help us all out , and you as well.
