Slapshot not working

I am having a major problem with the skill stick specifically with slapshots (on PS5). Most notably if I’m at center ice between the two blue lines and I try to slap the puck into the zone, I pull down on the right stick and instead of winding up for a slapshot the player will just put the puck on his backhand. It happens every time. And then when I go into freeskate the problem doesn’t occur, but it is occurring in gameplay mode both online and against the computer. I tried a lot of different things to try and troubleshoot like redownloading the game , resetting my controller, and nothing worked. I went back to NHL 23 to see if the same problem was happening but it wasn’t. Slapshots were working just fine all over the ice. Please help.

For whatever reason you have to glide to take a slapshot this year. It’s super frustrating, especially when I’m trying to clear it on a pk, if you don’t completely let off the left stick it won’t do it. And it’s awful. 

I was starting to think the same thing but if you go into free skate mode, the slapshot works with no problem, just like always. But in a game, 9 times out of 10 when you go to windup with the slapshot it just puts the puck on the skaters backhand.

Please help EA Sports!

it happens to me only during matches. In training mode slapshots work as expected.
