Very Poor Servers (NHL 24)

Lose connection to servers basically every other game in HUT and WOC. Game constantly freezes in menu and I get an error message that states "Failed to retrieve data". I have top tier internet connection and have tried wired and wireless connections and the game still crashes regardless. I've even tried changing NAT type and DNS settings to no effect. This is incredibly disappointing considering we pay full price for these games every year and the devs only seem to care about making money and not making a playable video game. Just pathetic at this point.

    Hi there, @mlppodesta 

    When exactly is this happening? We're not getting other reports of this so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the servers. You say you're using both wired and wireless connections. Are you switching between the 2? If so, make sure your network equipment and console are power cycled. I advise staying on a wired connection though as it's far more stable than wireless.

  • I've been getting "failed to retrieve data" error messages every 20-30 minutes on average and "lost connection to EA servers" messages and forfeiting games in about every 1 in 3 games. I've read countless reports of similar issues regarding this game in other pages/threads, etc. I've been on a wired connection as of late, and these problems have been occurring just as frequently as they did when I was on a wireless connection. I always have low ping and high upload/download speeds and no to minimal packet loss and i don't live in a rural area so i can't see how these issues could possibly be on my end.

    Let's go through some troubleshooting and see if we can get this resolved. What console are you playing on? Also, I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem/router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem/router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know if that helps or not. Thanks!

  • On XBOX Series X. I tried power cycling three separate times yesterday on both my console and my router exactly as you've described, to no avail.

    As a test, can you switch to a mobile hotspot as your connection and see if it still happens?

  • Hi, my confirm this error message. It usually appears when I want to enter a match and I'm adjusting my players in formations and then it takes me back a step. After that, when I want to continue, this message appears and I have to start a record with another opponent to solve it

  • Of course, this was not taken as a problem by me. I just wrote that sometimes it happens, but I know how to fix it myself without help. :-)
