Unfortunately, we don't filter matchmaking by rank/division. There has been a lot of feedback on this and it's been relayed to the team. Hopefully, we'll see changes in the future to help get matches closer to your team's division and RP.
we need improvement on this. as much as the elite as the silver,it becomes annoying
Buddy and I matched up with a team below even bronze 3 a few times last year - that's not fun for anyone
Personally I like the gameplay variety. Not a fan of skill based matchmaking in general. The worst team in the nhl can’t just opt out of playing the best one😂
Also the player base is too small for adding additional filters to matchmaking. One of the biggest complaints is matchmaking time.
I haven't noticed major issues with matchmaking time. The only times I have had a long wait time is when my lobby glitched, you will know if it is if you try cancelling matchmaking and says cancelling and the timer just keeps running. simple restart of the game fixes it for me. I can understand it being frustrating in threes eliminator or ones and you are trying to proceed to the next round. This usually happens when I use the quick resume xbox feature after not playing for sometime leaving the game running in the background.
Me either i have no issues with the the matchmaking time.

Competitive matchmaking is a joke. It's very true.
Well a change is needed. I'm not being mean I'm telling the truth. I want a system that matches people based on skill x and team division trends and win expectancies within user range.
I think what's trying to be said without actually saying it is that matchmaking based on skill level and team division was resulting in lengthy matchmaking times. EA has decided to remove these filters in an effort to achieve successful matchmaking in shorter time.
Ones, Threes Eliminator, 3v3/6v6 quickplay, NHL Arcade - all of these WoC modes are siphoning players from the core 3v3/6v6 modes resulting in EA taking drastic matchmaking steps such as forcing lower-skilled players to match up against sweaty elites. We're also forced to play against teams who don't have all humans which is super annoying because most people playing WoC do so in order to avoid playing against A.I.
It might be time to re-think the plethora of different options to play in WoC or at least limit the timeframe in which those modes are available in order to entice players to move back to the core modes and increase the population
