I read somewhere that after each EASHL season you will be able to upgrade your load out with extra attribute points. Is this true and why haven’t I been able to do this since there is a new season currently?

So at the end of the Season 5 everybody can have 100 speed build?
No you'll have same attribute caps as you currently have just more xp to round out your build. season 1 here had 80xp in the playstyle category so I would expect something very similar to distributed to 1 of the remaining categories.
Phew, thats not as bad as i thought then. Much rather had the current start of game attribute state as what it would be after season 5.
