NHL 25 Gameplay First Look

Why do all players look skinny, curved back and weird skating style? Feels like it’s a step back on different skating styles. 

When I watch a hockey game, I can know which player it is by the way they skate, no number or name needed. 

Last few years, I felt like we were going in that direction. But after watching this, Hughes brothers, Brent Burns in the trailer or any player skates the same. 🙃🙃🙃

I am so sad the flex moments are still in the game but this year they also seems to have ad some sort of BOOM and shake to the camera the moment when the puck crosses the goal line. Please tell me we can turn that off??

It could be cool if the camera continued to shake beacause of the crowd going wild when the home team score but that is not what it looks like they are going for here. It seems to be another arcade effect for both teams and nothing to do with the crowd.

Not a huge fan of the way this forum does things tbh. 

If I'd take a guess that is the upgrade to Sapien technology that they marketed - for the odd player shapes and that. 

That's the thing, if this was just one of many videos showing off the game, it'd be more forgivable and more of a mass marketing video to catch people's eyes cause of the Hughes' brothers.  But it's not one of many.  It's the only gameplay we've gotten so it's being treated like a deep dive when that probably wasn't the intent.

The marketing for this game has just set it up for failure.  Even the franchise deep dive, by far the best piece of content we've gotten, showed an extreme reliance on the conversation mechanic, which is probably one of the worst mechanics in the game the past couple years.  

It was def filmed before August, because at one point they are asked about the photo shoot and how it went. Luke responds with, "I am not sure, I will tell you in August when it comes out." 5:50 in the video if you want to check that out. Which says this was still during the development stages.  

Try clicking refresh after going in, I have found that that fixes the issue. 

Alright, since this is the first look at gameplay, I would say this is maybe not the best choice for a first gameplay look. The Hughes bros, clearly do not play this as much as many of us do, so might have been better to use people who are dedicated to the game. That being said, I love the Hughes bros and always trade to ensure I have all 3 on my team. I would have preferred if the game looked a little more changed and updated, but I get this was clearly filmed prior to August, so some things may have changed after that. It does seem kind of silly to have filmed this that long ago and only release it now, when EA has likely (more like hopefully) made changes since then. I like the look of the new score clock, though would def prefer to see team logos on the score clock. This seemed like the only noticeable change to the game, so even after watching this, I am still going to have withhold judgement until I play it on Friday, though I will likely spend the first few days just creating the 2 teams for the expansion, and tweaking some payers who seem like their overall stuff is off. Leave it off on a positive note though, Hughes bros are fun, so I would watch just cuz they are in the video. 

Agreed 100%. Hughes bros were good sports in filming this so early on, but why was this not released a long time ago? And it should have been followed up with more gameplay videos with some of us streamers who actually play the game. Get some more looks at various changes and some insight as to what people feel have actually been noticeable changes.
