In my club’s experience, we try to set up plays in the offensive zone, we set up back door tap ins, one timers, cross creases, cut plays, a lot of different high % plays that we create with teamwork… all to be snuffed out by an undeserved ridiculous save by the opposing goalie, which then springs a breakaway by someone who’s been cherry picking the entire time. Ever since x-factors were added to NHL, the game has rewarded you for individual selfish play, and punished you for playing as a team

This scenario you've laid out indicates your Defense is too aggressive and not properly covering a player looking for an outlet pass.
