Assign Created Players Glitch in Custom Rosters

Hey guys! 
Every year in NHL games I make a custom roster with numerous teams and players, and up until this game I have been fine, able to assign created players to my custom teams without any issues of duplication or them appearing in free agency after. But this year it appears to be a problem.

When I made a team and added random players from another league to the roster and then assigned the created players from the Create-A-Player menu, everything is fine, no duplication errors, they don’t show up again in free agency. Life is good right?

but when I make another team to repeat the same process, all the created players are back in free agency as though they were never assigned in the first place. And when I go back to the Create a Player to unassign them from the created team, it says “Player cannot be duplicated” How?!? When I ASSIGNED them to that created team. 

Is this an issue for anyone else? And does anyone have an idea on how to fix that? Thanks.
