I just don't think this team is capable of anything close to that. Remove the city and all the extra stuff and it becomes semi in the realm of possibility but still an EXTREME long shot I think.
They could use the odrs they currently have to create a story mode that works along side WoC like we see in lots of other sports games but it would be extremely hard for them to implement. I've written long posts about exactly how they could do it, how they could manage attribute allocation, what the story line could look like, etc. It took 5 years to "update" BAP. You figure it would take at least 10 years to port that character into WoC and make it balanced. I could be wrong but with how stiff their current player builder is and then how unbalanced their EA builds are (wheels) I'm just not even sure they're smart enough to be trusted with creating a system with too much user freedom. I'd love to play my BAP along side WoC when club members aren't on and build my guy (or guys) through the year. Building a guy from 60 to 99 through the year would be cool. Personally I'd have seasonal caps (season 1 you can only get to 70 ovr or something, this would keep players from having 99 vs lvl 60s and it would also allow the game to change all year long.. maybe a team strategy works really good at level 70 bit when everyone is running around with 99 you have to change up what youre doing.
Would I love a city, and presentation, and deep story like 2K? Yes! None of that is needed though. WoC being a lot deeper and having BAP work along side of it would be a huge step though. Right now WoC has no progression system. I buy/ unlock the same stuff every year. Building a player through the year would feel much more rewarding. Starting over every year wouldn't feel as pointless, it would allow you to go through each level of player again, and go from messy hockey through top tier level again. Each game could rebalance the attributes a bit or change how we get to 99.. just small changes each year to make the journey a bit different. Drop in could allow people to continue to play with the pre-made builds and diff stuff so new players could try diff builds before they make their build.
It would be awesome, but I'm not sure they would do it. I dont play franchise mode but I've heard that mode has lots of bugs. We will see what BAP looks like in this game and if its full of bugs we will know if there's any chance they will/ should try to implement something like this.
