Board physics need to change

This has to be changed. Some type of physics needs to be implemented (or fixed) so a person who just runs into the boards like this loses the puck or clotheslines themselves if they are still going at high speeds when the come into contact with them.

On top of the physics of it, the puck is on the ice but the stick is past it out of bounds at times so I cant poke the puck from them and the stick lift tends to be iffy on whether it works here or not.

Yes something here would be nice. I mean look at the guy he is turning like he has elite edges and has no stamina just to add to it. I know what he is doing, he is trying to either bait me or manipulate it (which kinda happens) where my AI defender just blindly attacks him behind the boards so he can go around for a quick far side wrap shot. I'd love for them to just plow themselves into the boards and fall down but I am also a realist in understanding this is a video game. Just a small little stumble or something where the puck goes flying away if you do this. Or like I have said in the past make it so turning actually costs stamina. The stick is in the boards so I cant poke without a strong chance for tripping him. I can't body check without a possible boarding. I can't tie him up because he still has enough momentum that the game won't let me stop him like that. Like all options are out against this guy who is just faceslamming into boards over and over again and I just have to sit and watch this elite gameplay.

Dangerous territory hiperay!  I agree it could be better but this one is hard to tune just right.  I forgot what version it was, but a few (many?) years ago if you clipped the boards while skating you would basically self-hit and fall down.  Back then it happened too much and made the boards feel sticky.  Need a lot of nuance to implement, though I do think you are on to something to help balance puck raggers and pure N/S speedsters.

Thanks for grabbing the clip. It would of course be great to see better physics along the boards. I'm sure it's pretty tricky since it would mean a ton of dropped pucks. It might be more frustrating than fun since it would be something we'd all have to be a lot more conscious about and we'd all have to greatly adjust our play to make sure we're not hitting the boards. We would maybe need a way to more finely control the puck so you can keep it off the boards.  I'll pass this on to the team. Appreciate it!

  • Well thats what I get for trying to do what Kidshowtime does and try to embed the gif inside the post. Here is the link of what I am referring to...
