Fake shot with just R3 on PS

Hi there. Yes. This will happen. I have the same habit. When this control was changed a couple of years ago, I had to remap my controls. This is a lot easier if you have a controller with additional buttons. You still should be able to remap the buttons through your console's device controls.

Thanks EA_Aljo​ but it's the button combination for fake shot LB + R3? Why does R3 alone trigger the fake shot?

R3 triggers the leg kick. Which is what I thought you meant. Is it triggering the same move as LB+R3?

The on screen pop-up says Fake Shot. The fake shot move is listed as LB+R3. Maybe the leg kick also says Fake Shot? 

The leg kick is a different type of fake shot.

It would be really nice to be able to just disable the R3 leg-kick from within the game.  With a standard PS5 controller the only option is to remap R3 to a different button.  This is problematic because that requires you to swap the two buttons ( you can't just disable R3 or change just the R3 behaviour ) and it's global  for the account, not just for NHL.

I've never intentionally done a leg-kick in the NHL games and until the control scheme change a couple of years ago I had never done one accidentally while trying to deke a goalie. 

Thanks EA_Aljo​ - so I guess the buttons work as intended but the remapping the button itself cannot be done in-game. Is it possible to make this a feature/change request? The leg kick is super disruptive and R3 is ridiculously easy to click accidentally. Thank you!

Yeah, as you mentioned, it's a global change when you remap the buttons. Unless you get a controller with profiles. I've been using an Elite Series 2 and just got a Gamesir G7 Pro. Both offer profiles so you can switch between button layouts. So, I've been able to disable clicking down on the sticks while remapping them to other buttons. I get that's not ideal, but it's an option.

I see that the 2 controllers you mentioned is for Xbox. is there an equivalent for PS5? I have a very very heavy thumb and fake shot when I don't want to which screws me more times than not.

I'm not optimistic we would add button remapping. I'll relay the feedback though. I agree it's disruptive. The change to controls a couple years ago forced me to remap them because I kept clicking in the stick by accident. Just couldn't train myself to have a lighter touch.
