I hate that AI controls everything, even you in BAP.

PS5, NHL26, Be A Pro.
(I use a 50/50 Dual sense Edge controller with default settings and a Regular controller. I play with one while the other charges the battery).

The AI makes too many slap shots vs. wrist shots.

The AI doesn't take penalties except very rarely when I'm on the ice.

AI: "magnetic" opponent, i.e. AI player comes to your back and follow to you like magnet, in real life the opponent tries to come in front to pick up your stick or push the puck away/ hit, which means you have to give up the puck (on real life players skating between own goal and puck for defensive). So now I can spin around with the puck for an hour without doing anything else...

When your player loses/gives away/whatever the puck, the AI will tackle you behind without a second thought (no penalty). This creates a counterattack that ends in a wild slapshot (not a wrist shot) between the p-spots or just before and this means wild stick lifting - rebound case and it goes in the net 99% of the time.

This "forced AI goal" should have been abandoned a long time (many, many NHL) ago... But not.

Tackling is absolutely crazy, players fly many meters in the air when tackled. I myself am 173cm/72kg in be a pro and tackle Tom Wilson through the wing or 10 meters to the side of where he is. This never happens in real life.  The circle tackle button (which I call the cheating button, because that's what it is, because it makes unreal and physics-defying movements) also has a delay, so you have to press it many times before anything happens.
Sometimes it's the other way around, so Wilson tackles 2-3 of my players without even getting a chance, the players practically fly many meters at the same time and it looks like they're getting hit by a car or every bone is broken. This is not realistic.

Kickoffs.
Sometimes you have to press the right stick to down 3-4 seconds early on the controller for the timing to work, sometimes it is even predetermined that the opponent will take the kickoff and the player's control has no effect. Sometimes you don't even have time to take the kickoff position when the puck is already with the opponent's defender. Often your own player doesn't do anything on the kickoff that I tell him to do with the controller, he freezes completely, this is really painful.

Lifting the stick does not happen all at once, you have to press the X button many times or hold it down for a long time for the be a pro character to do anything with his stick, far too often the player makes his move late. The same thing happens with the R1 button, with the difference that the player on the ice takes the stick sideways in front of him, i.e. does not push the stick forward. The stick does come out but with a long delay, at least 2 seconds after pressing the button and then it is already too late.

Acceleration, or L3, also has a delay, it is at least a second in the direction of attack and two downwards. By this I don't mean starting from a place, but accelerating from normal skating. Like controller vs. player reactions have delay...

The R and R3 buttons work fine, nothing wrong. There has been suspicion of lag in the controller, even friends have come to say that there is none. This is not the case in other games. And this is not the case in the PS4 version of NHL games (I last tried NHL20). Could these problems be caused by FPS lag? Really annoying that the player is no longer doing what I tell him to do with the controller.

Slider.
Player Attribute Effects - For some reason the slider only changes players skills on my team, my team won the regular season and the Stanley Cup with a score of 8/10 when it is normally 5/10 and because of that I barely win games. So, I didn't do everything but the team did, I was even injured for 23 games of the season.
Now I've played my second season with a score of 5/10 and it really feels like the superpowers are gone from my team (and me).
The reason I change this value is because I want the players to actually play at their level, but it seems like only the players on my team are playing like superstars and winning everything.

AI shorthanded.
AI attacks shorthanded, puts everything into a 3 vs. 5 game and even leads at the end of the third period. This situation usually starts with the AI defensemen taking the puck and going all the way to my goal (not even trying to clear the puck from their own zone despite the pressure) without caring that I am standing on their blue line and waiting for the pass in peace. In short: AI plays shorthanded for powerplay strategy, but still manages to clear the puck from their own zone on rare occasions. This is suicidal hockey that you don't see in real life.

Statistics.
In statistics, tackles are always top 15-top20 players of your own team and they are players who don't even play a physical game in real life. So the computer doesn't tackle in its games nearly as much as I do. That explains why only 2-3 players take over 100 minutes of penalties per season, it's also really unrealistic.

A very big plus for EA for other statistics, they are almost comparable to the real life NHL league, even the powerplay % corresponds to reality. Stats nerd likes it! :)
The points scored by the players are also close, except that last season McDavid scored 60 points in 82 games and Ovie 90 (45+45). Penalty minutes are the only thing that is much wrong.

(i use much google translator so im sorry if some word is wrong).

  • I've been looking for answers to these controller issues and there is "input lag" available, but when it doesn't apply to all commands, very strange.
