With the Olympic tournament, it's about time every NHL team updated their international team masks... they've been the same for over 20 years! Give me the template and I'll make them for you for free because Clear isn't going to happen anytime soon!!
EA doesnt have contractual agreements with individual mask designers. Which would include any and all, who design masks for the involved countries. Unlike the NHLPA agreement, where masks are under the agreement. The same is not said for the IIHF agreement. And for you to replicate them yourself. You could be in violation of copyright infringement. Probably why EA has not changed them.
Not up to NHL teams to change international masks. The mask is the sole property of the goalie who dons it. And in patnership with the designer who paints it. Any agreement EA would need, would be with both these parties. And drawing up a contract that is only valid every 4 years is not worth the paper it would be drawn up on. However!!!. They could draw up an agreement with the IIHL and be permitted to utilize the ipad masks like they have in the game now. Both would be for a limited time of use, as the NHL ones are. But the olympics is every 4 years. Im sure that limit would be acceptable. Personally. Dont believe they will ever do it.

Yeah i understand what you would like. And would also like to see it happen. But any mask, which represents any of the proffesional leagues of hockey. Have exclusive rights to their leagues, logos, equipment. Why EA has a contract with the NHLPA, in order to be able to use all material related to the NHL, AHL, etc. All are protected under copyright law. Even the concept of the masks made by ipad, fall under a temporary contract with the NHLPA,NHL to do so. In order to fulfill your wish of generic international masks. Anything that represents a certain country by way of design, lettering, or description. Would need to be contractually agreed upon. Otherwise. It would be a breach of copyright integrity. The masks made by ipad which represent certain NHL goalies masks. Are generic in nature. As they are not the actual designs. Still. A contract was needed in order to be able to produce them. And that contract was a limited time one. I hope this helps to give a reason why!
