UNSOLICITED ADVICE!!!

i don't know who needs to hear this, but here goes:

i've played every iteration of this game since NHLPA 93. watched it evolve over time to where it is today. I'm going to give you some unsolicited advice for the 3v3 and 6v6 Chel Club players out there:

if you go down by multiple goals EARLY just back out. just quit at that moment. Don't stick around to get pounded into the net. it is not worth it. TIME IS YOUR ONLY REAL CURRENCY. why waste that precious commodity to get pulverized by people who spend Way Too Much Time Playing This Game (no offense. it's your life, if you want to spend it playing this game, be my guest!).

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO STAY IN GAMES! who cares about backout/quitting penalties? who cares about your club rank? aren't we here to ENJOY THE GAME WE SPENT MONEY TO PLAY?????

go find a matchup you can actually ENJOY! go find an opponent who is on your level BECAUSE EA WON'T DO IT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

until they fix matchmaking it is up to you to Have A Good Time. Just last night, my club went down in a game within 10 minutes 4-0 and we all said "nah. let's back out" AND THEN WE WENT ON A TEAR AND WON A BUNCH OF FUN GAMES!!!!!!

tl;dr IT IS UP TO YOU TO MONITOR THE MATCHMAKING SITUATION. DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT QUITTING AND FINDING A BETTER MATCHUP.

  • Except, by leaving, you then get ZERO credit for playing the game. no xp towards leveling up and getting your other custom classes, no xp towards completion of that seasons pass for unlocking the latest premade classes, and no coins towards getting anything in the store like gear banners emblems etc. If you're a HUT player, no XP towards the XP path and no coins towards getting new cards in the auction house or whatever. You may say so what? But that is your take on it, other people might be interested in this sort of thing.

THIS RIGHT HERE though is why I say you need a mercy rule for this game. A five goal rule that if you go down that many, the game ends. It would make matchmaking quicker to find more fair games because the lopsided matches would be short and the fair matches would go the full 20 or so min it takes. It also takes away the humans mental defeat of having to quit out of a game and get penalized for it with a dnf%. Now some I have talked to argue that 5 is unfair and it should be like 7 or even 10, I can comeback down 5 goals... To that I say, if that was the case (and maybe it would happen an extremely small % of the time) than you probably shouldn't have gone down 5 in the first place.

  • ok yeah. if you care about that stuff, sure. or yeah a way for us to just wave a white flag so everyone can get on with their day. my club can take the L, they get the W, everyone moves on.
