So I was hopeful when they say they had a fix for the L2/LT abuse.
But there is no fix at all. They say the speed is reduce when you use it to much but with the new wheels and speed stats upgrade there is absolutly no difference. Players in 3 vs 3 just keep using it to enter the zone with back to the net and turn around the zone in ways that are just to unrealistic to enjoy a game.

If they can't make it where all L2 does is make you face the goal then it should be removed.
I firmly disagree with you there. Learn to use it or EA needs to fix it. Being able to rotate skating direction like the pros can do adds to the realism. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head right now would be to have your player burn double energy (maybe) if used anywhere outside of your opponents blue line maybe? I don’t really have a solution (should have been done during beta testing in all honesty) but taking away the ability to change directions in the offensive zone is something I’d be more upset to lose now that it exists. I’d honestly even rather deal with it in its current state than lose it entirely. Maybe reduce the speed anywhere not within the opposing teams blue line? I’m not sure of a solution but I’m sure the community can come up with something. Once features are added and used by nearly everyone (talking used by many not taken advantage of) losing them hurts more. My problem is they said it would be fixed and that was an outright lie. That’s not cool and shouldn’t have even been brought up if it’s a fix that never happened. I’m only speaking from offline experience currently though so I’m not sure if something may have been when playing a human opponent online.
I only say take it out because they will never fix it and I can't stand playing against the top players in the game where all they do is turn there back to you and move as fast as you and pass perfectly when in that position. Maybe if they slowed you right down when you have your back turned that might work but right now against the top players it is still too frustrating to defend. It seems the exact same as it is in NHL 25 to me and my buddy when they are in your zone.
I understand losing features that were in the game for years sucks, I have wasted so much time searching for games where we have the same amount of human players because they removed "match my team size" option in matchmaking which no one wanted removed.
