NHL Needs a complete RE-BOOT.
Sorry for the rant but here it is. I'm back to playing NHL 14 on PS3 b/c it is far and away a superior game. The amount of content thats been removed from the NHL franchise over the years should be criminal. Some of the things in NHL 14 that we had range from being able to select different stick flexes for different shot attributes, different blade curves for different shot location/accuracy, different skate blade radius to affect speed and agility, gm connected, winter classic, create plays, and more. The update on this years be a pro is absolutely diabolical. You guys spent a year trying to refresh and rejuvenate a mode and thats what you've come up with? Come on, its pathetic. We're angry, we're tired of the garbage. The biggest problem 14 was the last true labor of love from EA. I doubt anyone's even around that place anymore that worked on 14, but I suggest you guys go out, get some ps3's or 360's, fire it up, and see how a real NHL should look/play/feel. I've had a 6man squad on EASHL for years and we've all hung up the proverbial skates until we see major change with NHL. Not even buying it at 1/2 price this year. It sucks, b/c we are all passionate hockey fans who frequent real NHL games. Hell most of us still play beer league in our 30's/40's. We dont want nonsensical WOC skins like sharks and aliens (that trash for 10 year olds and if you're gonna put it in the game allow us to turn it off so we dont have to look at it in our settings). We dont want to have to unlock the same dumb sticks/jersey logos/arenas every year. Progression is dumb and needs reworked on items. Give the club coins so we can just purchase the Jersey/arena/logo set we want off the rip instead of making it a random level up. We play NHL, to play video game hockey. That's all we care about, good gameplay and having fun with the boys. I'm sorry but pick the correct xfactor to trigger the proper animation to win, is not fun and whoever came up with that idea should be fired into the sun. Nhl 25 was the last straw and after seeing 26 we're done. You need to go back to 14 for a base and build up from there. I'd rather see you guys go on a 2-3 year development cycle for games with a "DLC roster update." for year 2/3 of the games lifecycle to generate revenue. You'd have time to work on patches and actually fix broken mechanics that have been in the code of this game since you brought it to next gen and then current gen consoles. It would make ultimate team (a mode that I feel has been the downfall of all EA games and can not stand) more meaningful. Instead of blasting thru to build a team for what 6-7 months and then it's over for the new game, people may be more drawn to working on building sets for 2-3 years. But the big thing is that you could actually make a good hockey game again that played like hockey. Not whatever this thing is you put out now-a-days. I hope NHL can get back to the Glory Days. For now we wait and see.
