Olympic Hockey?

It is incredible how NHL 26 can manage to NOT have a stand alone Olympic hockey tournament or component in franchise mode or BAP. What a missed opportunity. At least the rumor is FC26 is trying to get the World Cup figured out. This has been scheduled for years. NHL players have been confirmed to play in the Olympics for two years now. Who is in charge of the NHL franchise? Why would EA not do whatever it takes to get the licensing or approval to incorporate this? A massive opportunity to get new fans to pick up the game. Nah tell you what, let's focus on more skins and overpowered builds. Seems like a solid business model.

There's one major obstacle to bringing the Olympic tournament into the game: the International Olympic Committee, which holds the Olympic rights. EA Sports only has the IIHF license, and not all teams have up-to-date jerseys.

One other problem you have to consider. The Olympic teams rosters were not revealed to about 2 weeks before the beginning of Olympic play. And knowing how slow EA is in getting things done. The time line is or was definitely not in their wheel house. There was also the uncertainty of NHL players playing, do to the rink not being complete weeks before.

An agreement was established in 2025 by the NHLPA, IIHF, The olympic commitee, and the IOC To have a best on best tournament in Cortina/Milan. This overceded any contract that would come under the olympic commitee alone.
