Fix them, make them work. I just had a game where we both skated through five players and scored a goal. Because poke checks or stick lifts aren't working, and if you jump towards your goal while an opponent is going forward, the stick does nothing.
Like this if you want this to be fixed.
And fix no cpu stick penalties in franchise and season modes, this clearly related.
I'm hesitant to spread this across too many threads (this exact post has been made a lot), but...
Stick checking neds to create more separation of puck from player. I'm sure it feels great to skate through an entire team with Unstoppable and Big Rig on, but it doesn't feel good to try and defend, and the defensive X-factors are pathetic in comparison. Yesterday somebody reverse-hit one of our defensemen into the bench. That's not hockey, that's like watching Mighty Ducks 3 on Disney+. I can see fighting through a poke check or stick lift once or twice. Exceptional players have done it. Fighting through 11 stick checks and losing possession multiple times only to get it back in .3 seconds each time is apocalyptically bad.
Community ManagerI know we're looking into the feedback on poke checks. I have plenty of good ones, then there are times when it seems like there should have been bigger separation. I think stick lifts are in a worse state as I'm really not sure I've even gotten one to work yet.

This game is probably the worst it's been for defencemen in a really long time. You can't poke check, guy just walks through 3 4 5 pokes and scores not even fazed. Stick lift is non existent. You are standing basically on top of the player back door when a pass comes through to him and he bangs it in un fazed, poke check doesn't work, tie up doesn't work, doing the LB drop down with the stick(block shot) trips him and sitting on his lap doesn't even distract him enough to miss the puck. So the only defensive move that works is the overpowered hitting with truc and if you miss he's home free and if you don't hit him completely square it can result in a penalty. I am on a top team in club play and have been for years and honestly I don't even wanna play until they fix these issues, its not fun for me. I can't defend to the best of my ability cause it's broken so i'd rather not play and get walked constantly letting my team down cause ea wants to appease to casual players by letting everything go in and make it undefendable against the better players that know how to utilize LT. I sure hope there are some big changes coming to the defensive side of the game or i might be hanging up the skates for the foreseeable future.
