I'm so over EA and everything they stand for. It's all about making money, not good games. NHL has been garbage for like 10 years now. Skate. Is shaping up to be another money grab. They ask over ane over again what consumers want, we tell them, they completely ignor it.
It's just a matter of time before they close down more studios and say "We aren't sure what happened"
Sadly there are no competitors anymore and they would have to be pretty compelling to take away market share in the industry. Sad reality. So much focus goes into online gimmicks for money grabbing that they forget how the game became the game everyone was after. It was offline modes, those are forgotten about. Some changes were made, but not enough. I suggested doing away with yearly releases awhile back. They need to do an update model like they do with a lot of games like Stellaris and Planet Zoo, those kinds of things. Take time to perfect the product instead of focusing on a new release every year. Season's passes to keep updating, then they can focus on improvements, not new launches of the same product.

This was a gameplay trailer so offline modes aren't going to be discussed.

Realize that. Thanks EA_Aljo I was just pointing out areas that the game has been really slipping on. Some improvements were made to Franchise last year, but some areas were still missing in critical areas. Like full presentation of the cups, banner raising, trophy winners, better pre and postgame segments. Hoping that with the BAP improvements that are being promised, we will see some improvements trickle into the franchise mode. As far as gameplay, the player movements being based on actual player data, is intriguing, but like I said before, I need to play that before I can judge it. I will await further deep dives, but EA has once again, not left a lot of time for showing us the product that we are supposed to pay a lot of money for.
I am blogger who does reviews, mainly for books, but have been sent actual products before for reviewing (coffee was my favorite). Been doing that since 2009. Used to do YouTube videos as well for a number of years, including gaming videos. Also had a very successful podcast that was on three radio stations, and had listeners in over 70 countries. I understand marketing and listening to those who buy a product. What works and what doesn't work. If EA ever wanted someone to help with this, I would always be open to it. However, we both know that isn't likely to happen. So far, EA asks for feedback, but often times, the feedback doesn't translate into game changes.
Every year, I watch hoping for the most asked for things (presentations being a major point of contention), being implemented in game. Each year I see tiny fragments, but most items are ignored. Which is why I suggested a season's pass type model over yearly releases. Gives more time to focus on perfecting a product, game launches take a lot of time and energy, I would rather that go into improvements to the game itself. I am not alone in that sentiment. I want to see this franchise succeed. Its is one of the few video games that I come back to on a regular basis. I buy it every year and have for bought pretty much all the XBOX, before that Playstation, Sega Genesis. With no other competition, I want to see this game succeed. Without listening to customers and their feedback, it won't. Slowly, people slip away and give up. I don't want that to happen. I love hockey.
