I'd love an explanation regarding the changes to the timing and animations surrounding the ref dropping the puck for faceoffs. What exactly was the problem that was being addressed?

Coaches challenges should be an absolute no-go, especially online. For them to work the game would need to randomly make intentionally wrong calls that could then be challenged. That's not a can of worms that should ever be opened.
