Reporting Griefers

very simple issue, EA_Aljo. Last year I almost got banned for reporting a player in the forums with his gamertag for violating TOS of forum. This year same player I blocked, came across on the other team and he did the same thing to them. Grief the other team nonstop. Why is there no in game way to report or block players from appearing on my search. it ruins the game for everyone when these players are allowed to roam free without consequences reporting their name (the only in game option) is not sufficient.

Hey there. We don't ban people for reporting other players. We'll let you know about the no naming and shaming rule, but unless you do it a bunch of times, it's not something we action accounts for.

If you can get a video and send me a private message, I'll pass it on, but we don't normally ban people for griefing. I'd love to see that happen, but it would also require someone reviewing videos non-stop. Most likely, many of which wouldn't even be actual greifing situations. What we need to do is have better anti-griefing features to handle those players. Unfortunately, the best I can recommend is that when it comes to drop-ins, only play with clubs instead of with random players in the outdoor rink.

I think bringing back position score and team play score would help. Back in the day if a guy went offsides intentionally a bunch of times or started shooting on his own net, he'd get kicked.

A majority vote kick seems to work fine in every other game, although I understand people would just kick the human goalie as soon as they got in the game every time. Not really sure what the answer is, but I don't think you can put a mode in the game and then tell people not to play it because it's always going to be a lawless wasteland. Lol. One player can ruin the whole game for 11 other people who are completely defenseless, and as soon as they leave he can queue up and do it again. It's a troll's paradise.

As far as I know, the same anti-griefing measures are still in game. I'm looking into that. Regardless, I'd love to see a better way to handle these players since it's still really easy to troll.

I'm not saying don't play that mode. I'm just saying your chances of getting a better experience are when you play club games as a drop-in player. I wish we had a filter that would let you only join those games. A vote kick is definitely a tricky one to get perfect. Which, we'd need to do otherwise people would be getting unfairly kicked.

Oh I absolutely agree. Safe to say after 20 years of online gaming, the trolls will just use the anti-troll measures to troll more. It's a slippery slope that normal people have to think really hard about. Sad state of affairs.

A filter for club games only would be all right, as easy as changing the filter from YES/NO to CLUB/CASUAL/ALL or something.

EA_Aljo to be fair, it does read like a shift in tone. The advice from your initial post came across as “don’t bother with random drop-ins, stick to playing club if you want a decent experience.” That essentially writes off the mode for anyone who does not already have a club of people to play with. This is basically impossible to avoid in that situation as there never has been a search for only clubs.

For what it’s worth, I responded to a thread months ago about trolling and offered up a significant list of things that could cut down on the amount of trolling. That concern seemed to go largely ignored, and honestly, it’s one of the main reasons (though there are others) I didn’t buy this year’s game. If a drop-ins feel like a “lawless wasteland,” why hasn't there been any work to fix this yet? I'm assuming it's still possible for one person to continually pull the goalie again this year?

You can be a guest on a club. Which is why I made the suggestion. You can enable this in the matchmaking filters. Otherwise, I wouldn't have suggested it if the requirement was to be in a club. When I play drop-ins, I always back out of the lobby when I get into an outdoor arena game and keep searching until I find a club. Which usually doesn't take long.

I'm sorry you're feeling ignored. I understand people feel that if we don't address the issue they're reporting, they feel ignored. That's not the case though. The team is aware of this, but there are also bigger priorities. I would love to see better anti-griefing measures and we're most definitely aware this needs to be improved. Hopefully, that will happen in the future.
