"There is no guaranteed save"
How many times I've heard this argument from personnel all over. I've given this statement a lot of thought and originally I was on the side that it was sound logic, there is no guarantee. But the more I thought about it the more I started to break it down... WHY was there no guarantee? Its not like there is some overseeing entity that keeps a goalie from making a save, its just very unlikely. However, there is, however small, a chance that you can be perfect, and isn't that what video games are suppose to do? Give you that chance at being perfect. With EA not giving you that chance and effectively capping your skill level and never allowing a player to be perfect you are effectively watering down the experience.
Don't misunderstand this, I don't want this "perfect" skill level to be easily attainable, that's not what this is about. I do, however, think that playing in a perfect position should however reward a player. Using goalie is the easiest example, if you're in perfect depth for the shot and perfectly square to the shot, it would be nice if the game rewarded that and applied some kind of "perfect" boost. My best example of this in other games would be things like MLB's Perfect/Perfect Hit for timing, Perfect counters in most fighting games, Dance Dance Revolution that would give you a better score for perfect timing, NBA's 2k perfect shot power, or even NHL's green 1Ts for perfectly timed 1Ts.
This would be a nice skill based addition for user goalies to aim and strive for. I do not believe this should be something given to cpu goalies as they already have the position built into their programming. And then can maybe be applied in other places as well, skaters, etc.
