What controls puck control?

We have the individual players puck control rating. We have a puck control slider. We have a puck control rating effect slider. Then we have a attribute effects slider. This is just for starters there are at least a handful of other puck control related sliders as well. So what effects what? How does it all work?Because when you start to adjust the sliders to see what effect they have on game play everything seems to go haywire. The slider adjustments don't always seem to have an effect on the aspect of the game they are meant to control. Why not be transparent about what the sliders actually do so we can adjust the game as we like? Otherwise what is the point of slider adjustments to begin with?
