They actually managed to make Be A Pro worse.

I really didn't think they could do it but here we are. Be a Pro is a complete disaster. Let's see, I lead my team in scoring in the pre season 9 points in 7 games that gets me demoted from 1st pairing NHL to the AHL.  8 goals 17 points in 8 games in the AHL barely gets me promoted to 3rd pairing NHL.

This is one of many problems, it doesn't even begin to address the game play which is indescribably bad.

Why is there such a massive difference in the play of the opponents CPU AI and my teammates CPU AI?

This was all supposed to be fixed, improved teammate AI was in the trailer.

This game mode was better ten years ago, that shouldn't be acceptable.

A paying customer since 1991, who would love to here from EA.

It needs another patch for the "form score".

I got the challenge to get 1 goal and a "form score" of I think 65 or 75? I got the goal and an assist in those 3 games but "form score" wasn't good enough so got demoted from 2nd line to 3rd line in the pre-season. I got another challenge to make it 7 games and get a "form score" 75? played the rest of the 7 games in the pre-season had 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points that lead the team and a +4 but didn't make the "form score" by 5 or 10 points so demoted to the AHL.  I pretty much rage quit after that.

I play on All-Star difficulty in NHL 25 I always played on Super-Star difficulty.

My form score is always pretty good. I think that a lot of it probably has to do with an imbalance in expectation of what new players are capable of.

I find it pretty appropriately challenging to play and score on Superstar when you're a 65 overall. That said, Superstar says it's for "expert players" and I have to imagine the average casual player isn't starting there. If you're playing on Pro or All-Star, it's almost too easy to meet those criteria. I imagine on Pro I could come out of the Memorial Cup with 15-20 goals. Maybe some people are good enough to do that on Superstar. I'm not.

Now you consider that they're programming BAP to be an attempt at realism. It's likely not prepared for you to come out and play 1st line in the NHL as soon as preseason ends. Seems likely that they EXPECT you to fail some objectives and get demoted, spend time in the AHL, etc. Of course it seems silly to send a 60 goal scorer down to the AHL, but I think they tune it for the average casual player to have a rookie sim experience.

  • I got screwed... I bought the game because they sold us on a 'Be a Pro 2.0' mode.

No display of transactions, injuries, lineups, retirees, no contract negotiations.

Impossible to see the opposing teams' lineups. You can't even check the AHL players' stats.

    I feel ripped off.

Am I naive to hope for a patch that will fix all this?

First of all people need to understand change be a pro setting to the classic, this way you can manage length of period and not simming any parts of the game. For example put 7 min periods, you will get enough time on ice and while on bench you will watch your team playing. Ice time isn’t a problem with this way and it’s more fun to see the whole game.
The main problem for this mode is that we don’t see any injury/transaction lists, it’s a big problem and makes this mode frustrating and unrealistic.

there's not even a way to find out your teams strategies. no matter where you are drafted or what your role is the coach expects you to carry to the team from day one yet they won't even tell you what systems the team runs.

The biggest problem is that you HAVE to go to the AHL league, it doesn't matter what happens behind the controller or how good a player you are, the game is programmed so that you go to the lower league or play the 4th chain forever. This makes people angry that your own actions don't really matter when everything is predetermined or the computer decides, like in a movie where you sometimes get to press a button... Such childishness does not belong in a simulation and especially not in sports.

a few tactics are clear, when you play shorthanded for example 3 vs. 5, your defenders go on the attack. Even if you are in the last seconds of the last set with a one-man lead, your team attacks, the same goes for the AI team. This game does not recognize defense very well, neither as a tactic nor even in terms of Be a pro, it does not give the defense anything, it only means points and goals at any cost. It would be REALLY nice if you could adjust these yourself and eliminate the problem in Be a pro, but as a player you cannot be a coach so this has to be done by the game developers.
