Penalty kill AI is way way way too aggressive

CPU is routinely sending a pker down below the opposing goal line to forecheck. Along with another player pressuring in the zone. Thats two players out of 4 deeper than the neutral zone. This routinely leaves the blue line wide open for the powerplay unit entry. This is precisely the opposite of how teams do it in real life.

They also try to fly the zone as soon as they get puck possession, and will send the entire unit down the ice to attack. I even see this happening with 3 man units. This is insane.

Almost like they don't even know they're down a man honestly. Can we please just finally have the special teams play like they're supposed to?  Stack the blue line, play the trap, make the PP unit set up and earn their chances and zone entries.

This video is a great example, there are a lot of powerplays in this game.

    At 2:01, 2:37, 4:24, 4:30, 4:51, 5:49, 11:23, 12:42, 14:07,  are all examples of this behavior.

At 20:40 you can see a good example of the PK and PP being set up and working properly. Then the Sharks go on a 2 man advantage and the Caps PK decides to send everyone down the ice to attack at 22:48

So we see it CAN work but the vast majority of the time its the PP team having an easy entry and transition style offense because the PK unit has 2 guys getting left behind in the opponent's zone.

I’m glad there are some actually penalties being called this year on the CPU after I cranked the sliders up. I am in agreement with you they are way too aggressive. I was on a 5-3 last game and they were forechecking hard. They don’t have the AI programmed to know when they are shorthanded they just act like it’s 5v5 all the time.  It’s also annoying as you can’t do a proper breakout with a hard PK forecheck, they falsely advertised this when they showed in their ‘deep dive’ using a human controlled player on the PK to keep the foward back in the neutral zone. In true vs CPU game the fowards always come at you no matter what.

yea. I saw a video of the so called "gameplay deep dive" and during that power play, the 2 offensive player and the 1 defensive player was controlled by a human NOT the AI. but I know what EA will say. "that was because it was for online play, not Be A Pro" online has more human players and BAP only has 1. well if all human players play the way the game is supposed to be played then yea that will work but not with all AI opposing team.

  • The CPU AI is aggressive when it comes to PP/PK and if you happen to have the puck and send your other 4 players off for a change. They all missile lock on you and all get huge attribute boosts in addition to a speed/acceleration burst. It is comical watching it unfold in real time because of how silly it looks.

I feel like this is standard, because I don't know how many times I've been on the pk and want to keep my players back and ready to defend the next attack wave, only to have one of my defenseman looking at my passive forward thinking "Come on man, if you don't hunt them, I will" and then leave his place in the defensive zone to leave me defending witht he forward I was controlling.

I suppose it could be that my teams have been using some kind of over-aggressive pk strategy, but not all the time with every team. I've never seen a pk so aggressive (in real life) that a defensemen leave their place in the defensive zone to desperately try to show the forward how to defend on pk.

When the pp is in the offensive zone and pk is defending, it seems to work fine most of the time. The problem for me is the over-aggressive behaviour when the pp is trying to get into the offensive zone.

EA hasn’t told the PK line is actually on the PK. They play as it’s 5v5. It’s been like that forever. You figured EA would have addressed this.

Watch the 2BC productions video on YouTube about this game - they literally had every player controlled by a human while showing the gameplay to hide the cpu’s god awful hockey iq while marketing “authentic” team systems, they’re just shamelessly false advertising 😭
