How do I stop my d-men from splitting in the d-zone and then stopping?

Product: NHL 22
Platform:Xbox Series X
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Opponent drives the centre of the ice.
What happens when the bug occurs? My d-men skate to the boards and then stop in place to allow him to have a breakaway.
What do you expect to see? D-men to not skate away from the puck carrier and then stop when my opponent enters the zone.
Was the issue in online or offline mode? Online
Insert Game Mode or Feature here HUT champions
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM)
What is your time zone?
What is your gamertag/PSN ID?

What is your game language? English

If someone drives the centre of the ice, my d-men skate to the wall to give him the zone, and then when I finally swap to them after switching between my forwards while trying to get to my dmen to chase after them, they have already stopped skating and lost all momentum so I have no chance to catch up. Alternatively, if they drive the outside lane, my dmen will collapse to the centre to and stop skating, therefore giving him an outside lane fast break or cross crease opportunity.

My question is, how do I stop this, is this a bug, or is this part of the code to force goals against?

Opponent wins draw, I poke check it off his stick but he gets it back (as it seems to always happen), I try to swap to my d-men, instead I get my left wing, so I swap again, but by this time my d-men have already planted themselves in place above either circle, so when he drives the centre lane I have no opportunity to defend.

How do you prevent this? How do you defend or is this simply the game saying it's time for a goal against?

This is a tricky one. I'm not sure any of the strategies are going to help. How I stop this is by manually switching to my defense. You can't really on the auto switch since chances are good you're going to get a player closer to the puck. You can hold RT/R2 and click down on the right stick to get the last man back or just hold in RT/R2 and aim at the player you want to switch to with the right stick. I do this in situations where I need a defender to stop a rush when I know my forwards won't be able to catch them.

  • That’s the thing though. I was aiming down to swap to my d-man, but it gave me the left wing first. So is there no way to defend a scenario like that? If the game skates your dmen out of position and then won’t let you swap to your dman in time, just accept the game is gifting your opponent a goal?

That's pretty odd you got the left-wing when aiming down. I'll keep an eye out for odd behavior like this since I use manual switching a lot. Thank you for the feedback on this.
