I've been playing nhl religiously with friends for several years now. I'm 38, own a business, have a kid. I'm just a dad trying to play some chel to relax. My name was flagged for "dik" around a month ago. Friends have similar in their name with no issue. My name however gets flagged. I change it from dik to dhong not because it's important I have a * reference in my name but because I've been using that name for years! And it's a part of my chel journey.My account got banned for 72 hours for "dhong" when people have heinously racist or HAD heinously racist things in their name. There are also guys that throw every single game they are in. Boltupright comes to mind yet he goes unscathed. Why is "dik" or "dhong" offensive? And I would like for my name to be unlocked especially during a time when I can still log in and see offensive names attached to guys with the darkest skin tone possible, the lightest beard possible and suspect behavior across the board.Oh and I received my initial ban without a reason of any kind anywhere. It was "you have violated our terms of service" and that's it! Now my name is locked to joe nhl with all the other people that had absolutely terrible chel names. Dik and dhong doesn't fit the bill!

Unfortunately for me I already went that route before posted here. My 72 hour ban has been lifted but I was provided no reason for the ban and the algorithm through the link you provided only got me a canned response that there were no sanctions on my account. There were no sanctions because the response came after the sanction was lifted. Is there not a more direct link to someone that can actually address it? Or am I just going to be stuck in limbo for the rest of chel 21 with Joe NHL?

I'm not seeing any sanctions on your account, but you most likely play on a different account than you're posting on. Unfortunately, with ToS not being available for a conversation, we won't be able to get any information to you about the ban. You should have received an email stating the cause though.

Hmmmm well that would explain the lack of email. Do you know how likely or unlikely it is for ea to lift a name lock? My name was longdik Donnie and that’s been my chel name for years. My buddies use similar. Initially I was the only one to get the email so I figured the algorithm incorrectly flagged my account. I changed my name to include dhong instead and now my account is locked to joe nhl. I know you can’t determine anything with this account but if it’s worth me making the effort to try and get it lifted I will. If it’s something they stand behind strictly I guess I will just be dealing with it. It eventually flagged my other friend but only after I changed it. I would never use a truly offensive name so this has been very frustrating. Thx for the prompt replies.

Don't waste your time, buddy. I got the same treatment for "Grandpa Malf" and fought it for like a month with no resolution. My name is still locked to this day. The admins here have no power to do anything, and the people who place the bans on accounts:

1 - appear to be outsourced workers who have no grasp of what is and is not offensive, and
2 - don't even read your disputes. The just deny your appeal and consider the matter resolved.
Basically, EA is making up for a decade+ of allowing horrifically racist and offensive names by throwing the ban hammer at anyone who is reported. Seriously, you can go back and forth all you want here, but it will get you nowhere. You may eventually get suggestions of trying EA Help on Twitter and Facebook, but both are dead ends. The mods are nice, but they are utterly powerless to do anything. Basically just customer service reps. It's the most pathetic and neglectful treatment I have ever seen as a gamer in my 42 years on this earth. But, EA is just a corporation at the end of it all, and they could not care less about gamers like you and I when it comes to matters like this.

Very disappointed in EA and their process. I came across a very racist and inappropriate name amd reported them. I got two emails saying and I quote, "an opinion that differs extremely from yours—may not be a violation." While a name I used for two years gets flagged, suspended, and with a name lock upon return. At this point I accepted my punishment. It is just unprofessional and unacceptable when it comes to their process. I would have rather not known their decision. They did eventually send an email stating that action was taken but at this point i can't help but see a double standard in their process. I love playing EA games but regardless they need to do better.
