The wording of this is a bit confusing because you listed four different versions of the game followed by the word "both." 

When the guy re-asked the question he was obviously confused by your answer the first time, and yet instead of being kind and/or helpful, you were snarky about it and re-posted the same poor answer, unchanged.

What we're looking for here is some clarity.

There was no snark intended at all. I was trying to be clear on this so I'm very sorry that's not how it was interpreted. NHL 21 is forward compatible with the new consoles. You only need to buy it once unless you want it for both PlayStation and Xbox. Then, you would need to buy it once for each console.

If I buy nhl 21 digitally on ps4 will it be on my ps5 or do I have to buy the disc in order to play it?

Your digital version will be playable on PS5. No need to purchase the game again.

Unfortunately this isn’t the case. I have the digital version of nhl21 and I got the ps5 today. I downloaded the game and it says in order to play I must purchase it on this console

Are you gamesharing NHl 21 with a friend by chance? It's fine if you are but they'll need to activate their account on your PS5 if you want to retain the ability to play.

I also have a digital version that was redeemed on PS4 and I can play that on PS5

Will there be a PlayStation 5 version of the game released or will I only get to play the PlayStation 4 version on the PlayStation 5? In other words will I have to wait until NHL 22 comes out for there to be a game that is made for the PlayStation 5?

There is no specific PS5 or Xbox Series X version for NHL 21. We don't have any details yet on what's coming for future games. When we do, an update will be made on our official channels. Thanks!
