Xbox Series X in-game lighting issues

I just received my Series X and just hoped into a practice. I notice that in-game, the lighting loops to dark and then light. Never stops. Recording a clip shows the lighting not having this issue. I haven't tried on club games, but I will a little bit later.

Anyone with a SX experience this?

  • Okay, thank you! I thought it was my tv, or the series X, as I'm having the same exact issue[s]. The brightness of the game dims-down so much, it's taken the pop [colors] out of the game!! It was driving me [profanity removed[ crazy all last night... The load screens are fine, but it's the on-ice colors that are way off. As a matter of fact, I noticed that the netting behind the goals were flickering, like the series X was having a problem displaying this game. I'm playing on a Samsung Q90T, and the picture with my xbox one X is awesome. The series X; not so much right now. It almost seems like this new console has taken a big step backwards.

    Edit: Removed profanity. -CM

Hey Aljo. It's also in regular games. I'll try and outdoor game as well. It's more noticeable in practice mode because you're the only one on the ice. It also seems impossible to get a video because when you create a clip, the lighting difference does not transfer to the video. It actually looks fine when I use Xbox clips. I might try a phone recording if I can but I suspect the phone flicker will prevent anyone from seeing the lighting issue.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Do you know what quality of cable you're using? For the new systems, it should be a premium one. Does it also happen if you disable HDR? Have you tried a different HDMI port? I'm on a series X and haven't had this issue yet so it's possible it's related to specific settings or equipment.

  • It's happening in all older EA sports games I'm guessing it's got something to do with Xbox new HDR features

  • Hi I've tried all of the above I only have the issue on all EA sports games

  • That's what I think because they all work fine on ps5
