Game will not 'Install', keeps looping from 'Finalising' to 'install'

I have a huge issue with the Origin Game launcher at the moment. All of my games and launchers are on an external hard drive in where in some cases Origin uninstalls my games. This issue is easily solved with re-installing; All games usually download/install easy again and I can return to playing my games. The issue I will be addressing is a brand new one I have encountered.

Recently Origin launcher uninstalled my games again; I did what I have before, reinstall the games with ease. It is until I tried to reinstall my copy of Alice: Madness Returns (which has worked with this method perfectly before) was stuck in a loop and will not install at all.

P.S I want to stress that this game has worked perfectly before and has re-installed with no issues in the past.

Basically this is how it goes:

  • Opens Origin to the launcher saying it is Verifying the game files of Alice: Madness Returns (takes around 1-2 minutes)
  • The game freezing on Finalising but tells me it is done in the download bar, clears like it is complete to when pressed
  • The game has an Install button to which I press. I then press 'yes' for the EA Setup pop-up
  • The game says Finalising for a few seconds and resets back to the Install button (this process loops every time I click the install button)

I have tried to fix this by (with the help of other EA forums):

None of the above solutions have worked at all. All of my other games like Sims 3SIms 4 and Sims Medieval installed properly. Does anyone know why this is happening and (possibly) have a fix for it?

Sorry to see that you are having issues @Laurakeet123.

Can I ask you to go ahead and disable your anti-virus and firewall and then try the download again?

If it works then great you just need to add an exception for both Origin and the game to your exclusions in both.

If it doesn't work please let me know and we will take it from there.

  • Hello @EA_Darko

I just turned off my anti-virus and firewall systems and tried re-downloading as you have directed.

Came back to find an error message (have attached a screenshot as well):

An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error code 327683:0

The finalizing and install loop issue still is occurring. Decided to search up the code and found a forum that was solved but everything mentioned in this forum I have already attempted before with no luck. Forum link is here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/error-code-327683-0/td-p/3345907/page/2

Thank you for your suggestions anyways!

Sorry to hear that you are still having issues @Laurakeet123. Would you mind retrying the steps in that help thread and then try to reinstall the game again?

  • Hello @EA_Darko

Tried following all steps in the forum I linked again but with no success. The game still will not install and keeps repeating the loop still.

Would you have any other recommended solutions or things that may work?

Big thanks for trying to help me through this!

Well as Darko already point out, it has been seen some anti virus app still have things active even then disable, ( require reboot for most of them to get ride of filters in browser because they are 3rd part app and some activate them self again after a reboot )
other way to do this, is make allow rule insted of disable
dont forget to add Origin.exe and the game.exe in allow rule this should work, or you might have other issue ( some of us actual uninstall antivirus app to be sure its not that issue doing test and reinstall it after again , dont forget reboot.

this do sounds like something has change but again so do graphic drivers
P.S I want to stress that this game has worked perfectly before and has re-installed with no issues in the past.

have you activated new things you have forgot about. if this is a newly issue. ( i do a check in installed app then sort by date then i can see history if it can help what did i have added or get a idea what happend )

if this is years ago then it wont help at all.

    ps.
other solution try a safe boot test. and from scrates unintsall av app

and if you have mcafee dont forget that webadvisor 3rd part app that block things in browser.
  • Hello all,

I got a new PC recently and Alice: Madness Returns downloaded and installed perfectly fine with no issues! Not sure why it worked this time, maybe because it was a fresh reinstall of all my origin games and launcher.

Thank you all who responded and tried to help for the matter! I hope people who do get this issue in the future can use their tips and solutions to help them fix it.
