Solved

Origin is simply not responding

Origin Client is not responding whenever it is started. And I cannot install, reinstall or uninstall Origin client as it always says not responding. Please suggest some solution.

  • I figured it out. It was the problem of my Quick Heal Total security antivirus which keeps crashing Origin client. Now, whenever I want to start Origin I have to clean boot and stop the antivirus permanently and then Origin works perfectly fine. I guess have to do this method whenever I want to play games on Origin.

Hey @killer_exec can you try the following steps to see if it helps:

    1. Try re-installing Origin:
      1. Close the Origin client.
      2. Open the Control Panel (find it by searching “Control Panel” in the Start menu).
      3. Click on Uninstall a program under Programs.
      4. Click on Origin and uninstall.
      5. Reinstall Origin, then try installing your game again.

Try running Origin as an administrator:

    1. Close the Origin client.
    2. Right-click the Origin client icon on your desktop (or in the Origin directory if not on your desktop) and click Run As Administrator.

This runs the Origin client as an administrator account, and should let the game  install.

Try lowering the User Access Control settings:

    1. Close the Origin client.
    2. Click the Windows button and type "UAC" in the search field.
    3. In the User Access Control window, click and hold the slide bar —slide it to the lowest setting available.
    4. Click Ok at the bottom of the window.
    5. Open the Origin client and try installing again (click Install on the game you want).

Hey @killer_exec are you running the installer as administrator?

I tested the installer there, for the second time today and was able to install Origin without any issue.

  • Yes, I always run the installer in administrator mode.I even tried a clean boot, and then reinstalled origin. It worked for that time, also I tried installing one game from the client. The download started and everything was fine. But after  I restarted my computer again, its still the same when I open Origin , it says not responding in the task manager. Even if I clean boot my pc and run origin, it says not responding until and unless I reinstall it once again in a separate clean boot in which I can install origin once and run it. But after one restart the same problem persists.

Hey @killer_exec that it worked with a clean boot certainly points to a system issue. The best thing I can recommend is to clean boot again and then start enabling your various programs one at a time and continue testing Origin to see if you can find the conflict.

Great to hear that you found a fix @killer_exec.

No harm reaching out to your Anti-Virus provider to let them know of the issue as they may have a fix that works for you.

  • Ya, I am looking forward to do it as well because that is the only alternative option I have.
