Locking this thread since it's pretty old to avoid further necroposting.
  • When you go to download the file, click on the file it says to dpwnload and add a new file and change the name of the file to the name you changed it to.

under install location, click on change, then click make a new file, give the file a name, then change the folder name to the file name. If a pop up apears asking for permission to make changes just accept it. You'r basically giving yourself permission to make chnages through EA.

also though, check if maybe you used an external drive to save the files under or a different gaming system/computer. It may all just be in there.

Hey sorry I know this is unrelated but im trying to download sims 3 too on my Mac but can bring this up as im not in administration mode how did you do that? Thanks again!

  • @amberdm and @LilithLee15  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin.  A regular uninstall doesn't remove all the hidden library files.  When reinstalling, make sure to give Origin all the permissions it requests.

    https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/

If that doesn't work, do another clean uninstall, create a new user account, and install there.  Make it an admin account; the username should contain only letters and numbers, no special characters, accents, etc.

If that doesn't help either, please post a screenshot of the error(s) you get.  It would also be helpful to know the full specs of your Mac, including operating system, as described here:

  • Same has been happening here while trying to play Sims 4.
I keep getting an error message saying origin can not open, something is missing and to try reinstalling it.
Have reinstalled it about a dozen times, no luck.
