Sims 4: Windows not prompting for permission

My boyfriend built me a new PC and I'm trying to download the Sims 4 onto it. I keep getting this error message when I'm supposed to be getting a Windows prompt for permission to download:

Sims 4: "Origin needs to download files and is waiting for permission. Please choose "Yes" when Windows prompts you for permission."

I don't know what to do anymore.

Things I've checked/tried:

  • Windows is activated
  • Reinstalled the Origin client
  • Restarted my PC
  • Running as admin
  • Adjusting my UAC settings
  • Changing where the game files download to
  • Signing out/back into my EA account
  • @lgbmc1  Hit Windows key-R and enter "services.msc" without quotes.  Scroll through the list to Origin Client Service and Origin Web Helper Service, and for each one, double-click, choose "Disabled" under Startup type, and click Apply to save the changes.  Then try to download again.  You might need to restart your computer for it to work.

Oh my GOD thank you so much... I know pretty much nothing about computers so I never would've even known this was an option and no one else's solutions worked.

    Big love, thank you ❤️

@puzzlezaddict Hi, we've just tried this for Sims 4 but we're still getting the same message re Windows pop up for permission but we never get the Windows pop up. Do you have any further tips to try? We've spent days on this and its driving us crazy, thanks

@MissMoodle800  Please run Origin as an admin: right-click on the shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  (Keep doing this while troubleshooting.)  If that alone doesn't help, temporarily turn User Account Control to its lowest setting.

If that doesn't help either, temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall; make sure to reenable it when you're done troubleshooting.  The next step would be trying to download in a clean boot.

If nothing else works, create a new admin user account on your computer, and download or update Sims 4 in that account.  The username on the account should contain only letters and numbers, no special characters, accents, etc.
