Unable to Download Origin - VCRUNTIME140.dll/MSVCP140.dll was not found

Hi I cant download Origin it says "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." AND "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." I don't know what this means or how to fix it. I can't reinstall the file because its a new computer and there wasn't an Origin downloaded in the first place. Please help

    @laurenjackson93  Those files are part of the 2015 VC++ runtimes, which Origin needs to install properly.  It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall.  You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

    Restart your computer, and try to install Origin again.

    After being frustrated quite a bit by this issue, I was able to resolve by uninstalling the 2017 C++ redistributable and installing only the 2015 one.  This still gave me the error.  I ended ensuring (as stated by an amazing poster above) that I had the x86 and the 64 bit versions of 2015 C++ redistributable from microsoft.  I only had the 64 bit one and my system is 64 bit, so I don't understand why I needed the x86 versions.  Long story short, after a reboot, it did fix the issue.  I hope this helps someone out there!  Happy gaming!

    Great to hear that @Alfiusness.

    You need both as while you may have a 64 bit system the game still may require films from the other version in order to run correctly.
