Cannot Change EA ID

Literally any combination of letters and numbers I enter for a new ID, aside from my current ID, is flagged as containing a prohibited word or character. I've tried everything from random words to meaningless strings of letters and numbers. Even changing the capitalization of my current ID causes it to be flagged. Absolutely nothing works.
