I cannot log into Spore even after linking my accounts

I had issues registering for Spore so someone in customer service told me to link my EA and Steam accounts. I did so, even doing it 2 times just to make sure it worked. But even still I cannot log in to Spore using my EA account. I don't want to go through customer service again in case I get the same person and they think I'm stupid, please help.
