You can try it in this way, navigate under C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin

Right click on SporeApp.exe

Properties >> Version
FileVersion
they should automatically install patch 5.1

This is not working for me, there is not a "version" option under properties. please help me.

Sorry, unfortunately, I don't know about the Steam Client. You should directly ask the Steam Community how this works there with patching under Spore!
