Update Content Database is the game converting itself between SPORE and SPORE Galactic Adventures, as they are both separate clients.
For instance, if you have been playing SPORE a lot and then load SPORE Galactic Adventures, it will take a significant amount of time for the game to update your Sporepedia. Depending on the number of creations, this can take several minutes.
It is advised that once you have bought SPORE Galactic Adventures, you only use this client. Reverting back to the base SPORE client may cause issues. If you are still crashing, I advise the following:
1. Uninstall all SPORE games (SPORE, Creepy & Cute and SPORE Galactic Adventures).
2. Re-install. First by installing and playing SPORE with Creepy & Cute.
3. Install and play SPORE Galactic Adventures. Do not revert to the base SPORE client.
